Naturally flavouring the world with sustainable innovations

Meet EcOmega.

Our space to share exactly what we are doing to reduce our impact on the planet and maximise our culture as we create our Natural Flavours & Natural Ingredients.

Working with nature is at the very heart of what we do at Omega, in fact, we are passionate about it.

We source all our ingredients sustainably, ethically and we take care in creating our ingredients to reduce our impact on the environment. We work with companies globally so we want to make sure we are giving back as much as possible.

What sustainability means to us

Environment

Omega Ingredients Ltd understand that there are limitations to protecting the Environment due to the nature of the business. This includes the handling of hazardous materials, limited storage space, preventing contamination through single-use items, transporting goods globally and supplier approval.

We are committed to:

  • Reduce waste through effective planning, re-use where possible and recycle waste generated from our business operations.

  • Analyse resource use, particularly those that are non-renewable, to benchmark and monitor environmental impact as part of our continual improvement culture and performance.

  • Source and promote a product range that is sustainable through its supply chain

  • Plan deliveries effectively as well as minimising business mileage where possible to maximise fuel efficiency.

  • Create and promote a culture that encourages all staff to be responsible for their environmental impact.

  • As well as delivering the resources and knowledge of best practice across the business.

  • Comply with all relevant Environmental legislation and requirements, both internally and externally.

  • Minimise physical risk such as water and fire damage through prevention and emergency preparedness to respond to such incidents.

  • To invite suppliers, customers, and service providers to adopt similar principles to protect the environment as well as communicate our policies and practices to interested parties.

  • We are a Carbon Literate Organisation which means we have an understanding of climate change, and the climate impacts of mankind’s everyday actions.

People and Community

Our culture is at the core of what we do, the passion and enthusiasm we share together is vital for driving us forward.

We know it is extremely important to take good care of our staff, providing development and a supportive community. We encourage and help staff to volunteer as part of their personal development.

We organise an annual 'Climb & Clean' challenge for the whole team to climb a mountain and litter pick on route! We take on this challenge for charities that are special to us including Rainbows4Children who manage the development of Nicholas School, Mekele, Ethiopia and Surfers Against Sewage.

We use Inhabit to help with our energy consumption. Inhabit allows us to regularly offset carbon, reduce our workforce/in-house emissions and educates our team through monthly newsletters based on the environment, as well as providing an online shop to find sustainable goods.

Sustainable Innovation

Sustainability lies at the heart of our innovation strategy. We work closely with our suppliers and local farmers to create solutions to minimise waste, up cycle and valorise naturall products.

Whether is be using wonky fruit for extractions, taking otherwise discarded water from juice or essential oil productions and concentrating it or making use of spent coffee beans, we aim to ensure every ounce of flavour never goes to waste!

Working Standards

We work to a standard to ensure we are working in a social and ethical way. The below Awards mark the standard we are working at.

We are proud to support

We are proud to be a Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) Ocean Network Member which enables us to support SAS and their projects.

Our membership helps fund their education programme, beach cleans and campaigns to protect the marine environment, especially from the current plastic pollution crisis.

Along with like-minded businesses we have become part of a powerful network of leaders, who are driving forward a movement for change.
